What Is Wrong With Televangelists

Many of them deal most with temporary issues, issues like avoiding problems in life, solving problems in life, a successful life, a happy life, a healthy life, a prosperous life, etc. Those things are good and we all want them, but the Bible speaks often about everlasting life, eternal life. It is hard for us to quantify eternal life. I think of it as more than a million years. The issues that televangelists deal with the most last 100 years or less. Compare a hundred years with a million years. The million years are most important. I would like the televangelists to give more attention to everlasting life. I would suggest that we evaluate them by asking ourselves, if I get what he or she promises, will it last less than a hundred years or will I have it forever? Another measuring stick for televangelists is this: Is what they talk about just for me or will it help me to serve and bless others? Everlasting life is for me but it is not JUST for me. It does not fulfill or produce selfishness.

Psalms 90:10: The days of our years are threescore years and ten; (70) and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, (80) yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Job 21:23: One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet. 24 His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow. 25 And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure. 26 They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

James 4:14: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away./span>

1 Peter 1:24: For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 6:27: Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Matthew 6:19: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

I would describe the life of a believer on earth as an upward path toward Heaven and the life of an unbeliever as a downward path toward Hell. Believers will encounter many of the same problems on their way up that unbelievers encounter on their way down. The most important thing is the final destination. The upward life toward Heaven is planned by God and lived by His obedient children. The problems they encounter are measured to them through the eye-dropper of His love. The downward life toward Hell is one lived in unbelief in and disobedience to God, the most important feature of which is revealed in this passage:

John 3:36: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
